The Process

When coming up with branding for this brief, I explored different eras of vintage to find an aesthetic that I thought would work best for an online stores. From the research carried out and the mood boards created; I felt that the 70's aesthetic would work best for an online store. I really admired the colours and the patterns used in this time period and felt that it would translate well as a brand.

When created designs I also sketched through a few different ideas for each aesthetic researched. I decided to go with the 'groovy' logo and work on tweaking it to work better as a logo.

Logo ideas

I tried out a few variations of the logo and initially felt that the third logo in the logo process looked best.

However, further observing and criticism from peers helped identify that the ampersand wasn't very legible.

I also felt that the use of two typefaces did not really work with this specific brief.

The final design was created with cohesive typefaces and a more legible ampersand.

On reflection, I would work this brief differently as I still don't see it really capturing the 70's aesthetic. I plan to rework this brief in the future.
